Secondary
The object of the Secondary Program is to support Eabametoong First Nation Students to gain access to Secondary Education and to graduate with the skills needed to pursue a higher education at a post-secondary level to achieve a career in their field of study.
Every effort on the part of each student to obtain funding to assist with their education endeavors, but after all, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC ) funding is only a subsidy program and is not intended to fund 100% of education and its related costs for each student.
EFNEA is committed to providing Eabametoong First Nation Students with the support needed to complete their academic achievements.
APPLICATION DEADLINE DATES
- MAY 15TH – Fall/Winter Semesters (September)
- NOVEMBER 15th – Winter Semester (February)
- MAY 15th – Spring/Summer Semester (if applicable)

FUNDING CRITERIA
The following criteria apply to all students who are to be considered for the funding under the EFNEA Secondary Program.
- Students must complete a Secondary Educational Assistant Application.
- Students must have Eabametoong First Nation band membership prior to applying for Secondary funding and training.
- Applications must be submitted by due dates for considerations.
- May 1st for Summer Session Enrollment (if applicable)
- May 15th for September Session Enrollment
- November 15th for February Session Enrollment
- Student MUST PROVIDE all documentation and information requested by EFNEA as follows:
- Updated transcripts – (1st & 2nd semester report cards)
- Identification
- Updated medical information
- Updated phone number and address
- Email address and essay
- Student must sign a release of information form under the Freedom of Information Act.
(Students who do not produce documentation and information as requested shall be suspended until such time as deemed necessary). - It is the responsibility of each student to apply for funding each and every year until course/program is completed or otherwise.
- A student is expected to complete a course of studies as prescribed by the guidelines set up by the educational institute being attended.
- Only full-time students shall be considered.
- Full time secondary students taking a summer course shall be considered for funding based on individual graduation requirements and deadlines.
You must submit a funding application for approval. Continuing students may take up to 2 courses over the length of their program,
with the recommendation of the Education Counsellor, and Board Approval and, if funds are available. - Misleading information provided by the student may void the application for educational assistance.
Students must notify the Education Counsellor of any changes in their circumstances that could result in changes to their funding.
Failure may void the funding. - EFNEA Secondary Program funding level for students attending full time secondary studies shall be consistent. See attached funding criteria.
- All students who sign on educational assistance form agree to the terms and conditions of the EFNEA Secondary Policies, Guidelines, and Student Expectations.
- All students who retain funding under the EFNEA Secondary Program shall be legally responsible for reimbursing EFNEA
in the event of discontinuation of studies anytime without valid reason in order for the application to be considered in the future.- The process of reimbursement shall be invoicing of student
- Invoice payable upon receipt by student
- Only current year penalties will apply
- Students that will be residing with a parent (if in fact the parent is also attending any post secondary program or is a resident of Thunder Bay
or any other city; while attending school will not be eligible to receive any sort of sponsorship and/or funding.
It is the parents’ responsibility to provide any financial assistance to the students while attending high school.
Effective April 1st 2005.
