HIV Prevention: Is PrEP Right for You?

HIV is spread through body fluids like blood, semen, and breast milk. Prevention means stopping HIV from gaining a foothold in your body—and today, there are more options than ever to do that.

Here’s how you can prevent HIV:

  • Use new drug use equipment every time
  • Use condoms during all sexual activity
  • In some cases formula feeding infants is recommended however, with consistent antiretroviral therapy (ART) and a suppressed viral load, breastfeeding (or chest feeding) carries a very low risk

A Powerful New Prevention Tool: PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication that prevents HIV infection. When taken as prescribed, it is 99% effective.

At Elevate, we now offer injectable PrEP—administered every 4 weeks or monthly, with longer-lasting options coming soon.

Want to learn more? Book an appointment with our Clinical Care Team to see if PrEP is right for you.

What is U=U?

Undetectable = Untransmittable. When HIV medication is working, it reduces the virus in the body to an undetectable level. That means, People with an undetectable viral load CANNOT sexually transmit HIV. This is called U=U, and it’s a powerful truth backed by science and embraced by communities around the world.
