What We're Doing

The Reclamation and Healing Department will work with communities and Tribal Councils to support Survivor-Led initiatives under the guidance and direction of the Survivors and Family Empowerment (SAFE) Council. This includes providing:

Technical Support
Assisting communities and initiatives on searches of former IRS sites

Health Support/Cultural Support
Help survivors access and navigate services

Education and Awareness
Raising awareness through advocacy and increasing education regarding the truth of residential schools in Canada

Reclamation & Healing Strategy

The Reclamation and Healing Strategy was co-created by the SAFE Council as a guide to how the department will approach the work. The strategy will utilize a 6 pillared approach:
