Community Legal Workers

Courts

Community Legal Workers (CLWs) attend court on advance and list days in each of the communities they serve.
CLWs may also attend court in northern urban centers if there are NAN members requiring assistance
Duty counsel is available on advance and list days for community members with matters before the court.
Duty counsel offers free summary legal advice to all community members on advance days without an appointment.

Clinic Days

Clinic days allow NAN community members to get more information on specific legal topics and their legal rights.
During clinic days, presentations, radio shows, and drop-in sessions on the legal topics are offered in the community.
A lawyer is also present to answer legal questions.
Requests for clinic days can be made by community leadership on our website, or by calling or visiting NALSC or talking to a CLW.

Public Legal Education

The Public Legal Education and Communications Officer works with CLWs and other NALSC programs to receive requests from communities for clinic days, workshops, presentations and more information on legal topics.
