Would I benefit from psychotherapy/ counselling?
Research shows that evidence-based psychotherapy is generally the most effective treatment for psychological/mental health issues. At our clinic, people present with many issues ranging from difficulties with worrying or feeling unhappy to managing significant mental health issues (i.e., frequent anxiety attacks, longstanding difficulties with severe depression, etc.).
Do I need a psychological assessment?
An informal assessment always precedes psychotherapy/
• Obtain recommendations for school or workplace accommodations
• Assist with funding applications
• Determine/
• Establish appropriate treatment planning for psychotherapy/counselling
• Gain self-knowledge
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
No, a referral from a physician is not required to make an appointment. However, if you intend to access extended health coverage to pay for your appointment, your insurer may need a physician referral to qualify for reimbursement.
Do you offer direct billing for extended health coverage?
No, we are unable to offer direct billing at this time due to the significant variability in insurance plans. As insurance coverage becomes more uniform and streamlined in the future, we intend to offer direct billing for our clients.
Do you have a list of funding sources?
Yes. We recommend that you review the list of funding sources to see if you can access coverage. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our clinic for further information.
How long are appointments?
For psychotherapy/counselling, appointments are generally 50 minutes with 10 minutes reserved for documentation.
Psychological (Mental Health) assessments, appointments are typically 2-3 hours, while specialized assessment services such as Psychoeducational (Learning), ADHD (Attention), and Autism (Developmental) Range from 3-6 hours.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes, we are open until 8 pm, four days a week. Our hours of operation are as follows:
Monday - Thursday: 9 am - 8 pm
Friday: 9 am - 5 pm
Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm
What happens with my personal information?
Information disclosed in psychotherapy/counselling, or in a psychological assessment is kept strictly confidential and cannot be disclosed without your consent. If you would like this information released to another individual (e.g., a family physician, a lawyer, etc.), a Consent To Release/Obtain Information form must be signed.
How do I make a referral to your clinic?
If you work for a healthcare agency or organization and wish to make a referral, please download the attached referral form and fax (807-683-7167) or email (admin@drsullivan.ca) to our clinic.
