Neighbourhood Recreation Program (NRP)
Neighbourhood Recreation Program is a free, inclusive registered recreation program for children in Grades 1-6 offered in the City of Thunder Bay. NRP runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Join our staff after the bell for crafts, games, activities and sports, as well as a daily snack! NRP runs at the school’s dismissal and runs for three hours.
Our leaders are trained in First Aid, the High Five principles of Healthy Childhood Development, Behaviour Management, Inclusion, and more.

Special Events & Virtual
Special Events occur at various locations around Thunder Bay. These include themed activities at our locations and outings with community partners (rock climbing, escape room, etc) Our Virtual Program features a new recipe or craft each session. Participants will receive a kit containing the materials/ingredients for their activity and a zoom link to join us for virtual instructions and fun

Drop In
Youth are encouraged to join us at any of our drop in locations (see below) during the week. Snacks are provided. No registration is necessary for this program. Upon your first visit we will confirm we have a Participant Information Form (emergency contacts, allergies, etc.) on file. We enjoy outdoor games, crafts, board games, etc. at our drop in programs.

Join Us This Winter For One-On-One Support
Facilitating the inclusion of Children & Youth with disabilities in the Recreation & Culture Divisions’ Programming
- JIS support is FREE! (not including registration fees)
- A site or virtual visit will be conducted prior to the start of support
- To initially apply for JIS, complete a Participant Intake Form
- The Winter Request List for support in Fall Programming opens November 1st
For information on our 4U series please contact us or sign-up for our program waitlist! 4U programs offer small group support with 2-3 JIS staff instruction, adapting, and supporting. PSW’s, parents/guardians and siblings are welcome to support 1:1 at the program as well.
