If you are experiencing a power outage in one of the 16 First Nations connected to the provincial grid via the Wataynikaneyap system, call Hydro One Remotes at 1-888-825-8707. Power distribution is the responsibility of Hydro One Remotes. They are prepared to respond 24/7 to outages and other issues.

Labour Pool Database

In order to maximize employment from the 24 First Nation owner communities, Wataynikaneyap Power’s service provider, Opiikapawiin Services, administers a database of eligible workers. The Labour Pool Database is for individual members (members living on or off-reserve) and current on-reserve residents of Wataynikaneyap Power’s 24 First Nation owner communities. If you are a band member or a current resident of one of the communities, complete a Questionnaire to be included in the database, here.

Located on Fort William First Nation, Ontario, Wataynikaneyap Power’s head office sits beside Anemki-Wajiw (Mount McKay). It is just over the bridge from Thunder Bay: a picturesque, quiet city on the shore of Lake Superior.

The Wataynikaneyap Power transmission system is 1,800 km of transmission lines and 22 substations across northwestern Ontario. Because of the large system footprint, employees may have the opportunity to work from their preferred location in northwestern Ontario.
