As work requirements allow, we offer employment opportunities to grade 12, college, and university students in areas such as Engineering, Environment, Operations, Finance, Health and Safety, and Human Resources. Wataynikaneyap Power strives to work with members of Wataynikaneyap Power’s Participating First Nations to find meaningful work with the company. Not sure if your field is relevant? Just ask!
Co-op Program Opportunities
As work requirements allow, Wataynikaneyap Power offers secondary and post-secondary students with engaging opportunities for four or eight-month work terms.
Apprenticeships
Wataynikaneyap Power selected PowerTel, a subsidiary of Cormorant Utility Services, to carry out specialized inspection, maintenance, and emergency response (IMER) activities on the Wataynikaneyap Power transmission system until 2026. PowerTel will support Participating First Nation members in apprenticeships in several areas of the electrical utility industry.

Wataynikaneyap Power is offering a two-year bursary and mentorship program to support grade 12 and post-secondary students from the transmission system’s owner communities.* Successful applicants receive a $1,000 cash bursary and will be connected with experienced staff at Wataynikaneyap Power (PM) for mentorship. Students will also be introduced to the Wataynikaneyap Power transmission system and energy sector careers throughout the school year.
The bursary is for students from Wataynikaneyap Power’s 24 First Nation owner communities with an academic focus in a relevant field. Bursary funding is split into payments and is based on reasonable communication with a mentor and academic standing.
